What is Cypress?

 

White Cypress Pine (Commonly - Callitris glaucophylla) is also known as Australian Cypress

·         A native Australian softwood

·         A cheaper alternative to many hardwoods.

·         Lighter coloured sapwood and dark heartwood.

·         Natural durability – class 2 (same as river red gum)

·         Minimal shrinkage.

·         Ideal for dressing – finishes very smooth

·         Mostly harvested from plantations & government approved sources.

Sizes

Picket Blanks

68 x 19 picket blanks (smooth all round – pencilled edges)

  • Mainly used for fence pickets.
  • Can be purchased with pre-formed picket heads
  • Can be purchased as a “picket blank” – which is a plain profile, similar to decking
  • Excellent value alternative to hardwood.
  • Not recommended for use as decking. There are

Cypress is ideal for decking as it does not require chemical treatment and can be oiled to provide a natural appearance, or painted

Outdoor Timber can supply Australian Cypress Decking with a serrated finish* in the following sizes:

§  75mm x 25mm (68mm x 20mm finished)

§  100mm x 25mm (90mm x 20mm finished)

* Two serration depths are available.
