Fence Extensions
Back in 1990, we revolutionised the lattice market by introducing a budget method of fixing lattice to the top of a fence. Previously the only product available was a woven panel with capping. This was expensive and impractical for most situations. Alternatively, uprights were fixed to the fence and the sheet fixed to the uprights. We needed a cheaper and easier method suitable for the average handyperson.
We identified that it was not necessary to use an overly large section of timber to fix a 600mm sheet to the top of a fence. Instead of using a 75 x 38 on one side, we were able to use a 42 x 19 on both sides of the sheet. By fixing to both sides, the “legs” act like a clamp. Basically all that is needed to fit a Fence Extension is a saw and a screwdriver, so it is handyperson friendly.
Fence extensions add security, privacy, beauty & function to your average suburban paling fence. You may have a jumping dog, a creeper that needs to reach for the sun, an ugly view next door, a nosey neighbour or you may be into nude sunbathing!. Who knows! There are many reasons to raise the height of our fences.
How to Fit a Fence Extension
Fence extensions are designed to sit directly on top of a paling fence to raise the height of the fence by a maximum of 600mm. The sheet itself sits on top of the paling, a leg straddles each side. One leg is to be cut to sit on the top fence rail. One leg is to be left uncut and will hang on the paling side down past the rail.
1 Measure your fence extension requirements. 2 Buy your fence extensions from Outdoor Timber 3 If you don’t do step 2, then don’t read any further. 4 Make pencil marks on your fence, roughly where the legs will sit. 5 Measure the distance from the top of the paling to the top rail. 6 Decide which side of the sheet you want to look at. 7 Measure & cut off the legs on one side only of the panel. 8 Lift your panel over the fence & gently squeeze the legs apart where necessary. 9 With a ladder, get a block of wood and tap the sheet down until it sits flush with the top of the fence. 10 Make sure all the sheets are lined up and flush with no gaps. 11 On the paling side - Screw through the legs into the rail. 12 On the rail side - Screw through the legs into the palings & into the other side. 13 Again with the ladder, join the tops of the sheets with a mini-gang nail. 14 Stand back and put your hands on your hips. 15mm Square

Application: þ The most popular! þ Largest range in stock! þ It can be made to order. ý It is not suitable for privacy screening. ý Not recommended for use around pools & spas. Except where fence where the total height is 2.4m above natural ground level þ It is suitable for use as a trellis.

40mm Diagonal
Details: This made from 35mm wide x 9mm treated pine laths. The spacing creates a 40mm diagonal nominal opening. Legs are 42 x 19 x 900mm long. There are extra laths on both sides for extra strength.
